Doha, Qatar – Qatar’s mediation efforts to de-escalate the ongoing conflict in Gaza have entered the final stages, with an agreement close at hand, according to Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Ansari emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality during these critical negotiations, assuring the public that a formal announcement will be made upon reaching a definitive agreement.

Qatar’s unwavering commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people has been the driving force behind these mediations. The State hopes to swiftly conclude a ceasefire, bringing an end to the tragic humanitarian crisis engulfing Gaza.

Expressing optimism about the impending agreement, Dr. Ansari cited Qatar’s successful mediation efforts in the past, notably the evacuation of a large group of foreign nationals from the Gaza Strip.

The spokesperson underscored the urgency of ending the hostilities and delivering desperately needed humanitarian aid to Gaza, where hundreds continue to perish daily due to the relentless Israeli attacks.

Qatar has been actively engaging with the international community, urging them to intervene and halt the bloodshed. Consultations and communications with various international officials, regional organizations, and the United Nations have been ongoing.

In support of the Palestinian people, Qatar has maintained an airlift operation to Al Arish in Egypt, delivering 492 tons of relief and humanitarian aid to date. These efforts are a testament to Qatar’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people during these challenging times.

The upcoming GCC summit, hosted by Doha next month, will provide an opportunity to address the situation in Gaza within the broader context of regional cooperation. The summit is expected to generate concrete decisions that strengthen Gulf integration across all sectors.

Regarding the Qatar-Bahrain bridge project, Dr. Ansari confirmed that discussions with Bahraini counterparts are underway. Technical committees from both countries are working to finalize plans and initiate project implementation. Once operational, this bridge will foster connectivity and economic growth within the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to reduce the escalation in Gaza. Qatar has strongly condemned the Israeli bombings of the Indonesian hospital and the Al Fakhoura camp.

High-level meetings and calls with international officials from the European Union, France, the United States, Ireland, and Norway have been instrumental in advocating for a ceasefire and the reopening of the Rafah crossing to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
