Juba, South Sudan – South Sudan and Ethiopia have agreed to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
This came during a meeting between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen Hassen, in Juba on Wednesday.
The two leaders discussed a range of issues, including strengthening people-to-people relations, connecting the two countries with roads, and regional stability.
Mekonnen said the meeting was an opportunity to review the progress of bilateral relations and identify new areas of cooperation. He also expressed Ethiopia’s commitment to supporting South Sudan’s peace and development efforts.
President Kiir thanked Ethiopia for its support and said that South Sudan is committed to working with Ethiopia to strengthen bilateral relations and promote regional peace and security.
The two leaders also agreed to exchange high-level visits in the near future to further deepen ties between the two countries.
