Prof. Dire TLADI, a South African expert in international law, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ntšiuoa Sekete, Ambassador of Lesotho to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), as well as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
Prof. Tladi is a candidate for the position of judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Also known as the World Court, the ICJ is an organ of the United Nations mandated to settle disputes between states in accordance with international law and also give advisory opinions on international legal matters. The election will take place on November 9, 2023.
During the meeting, Prof. Tladi and Ambassador Sekete discussed a range of issues related to international law and the ICJ. They also discussed Prof. Tladi’s candidacy for the ICJ.
Prof. Tladi is a highly respected expert in international law with over 30 years of experience. He has served as a legal advisor to the South African government on a number of international law issues and has represented South Africa in several international legal cases.
Prof. Tladi’s candidacy for the ICJ has been endorsed by the South African government and by a number of international law organizations. He is one of nine candidates for the five vacant positions on the ICJ bench.
