Mogoditshane, Botswana – President Mokgweetsi Masisi officially opened the Strides of Success plant in Nkoyaphiri, Mogoditshane on Thursday.

The plant, which is a joint venture between the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) and Pulp & Paper Industries, is a groundbreaking project in Botswana. It has invested over 200 million Pula in advanced machinery and technology to produce toilet paper and packaging materials.

The plant is also environmentally friendly and sustainable, in line with the country’s objectives. It currently employs 200 people directly and another 250 indirectly.

In his speech, President Masisi expressed his happiness in seeing projects that are in line with the Reset and Reclaim Agenda, National Vision 2036, Agenda 2063, and Sustainable Development Goals. He also mentioned that the Pulp and Paper manufacturing plant is a step towards the government’s promise to develop a strong waste recycling industry in Botswana.

“This is a project that we must all support,” President Masisi said. “It is good for the environment, it creates jobs, and it helps us to achieve our national development goals.”

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Mmusi Kgafela, also spoke at the event. He expressed his gratitude towards BITC for supporting this company in its successful establishment. He mentioned that the Botswana One Stop Service Centre (BOSSC) provided the necessary assistance to the company in crucial areas to start and run its operations.

“This is a clear example of how BITC can help businesses to succeed,” Minister Kgafela said. “We are committed to supporting more businesses like this one to create jobs and grow the economy.”
