Gaborone – Mrs. Neo Jane Masisi, the distinguished First Lady of the Republic of Botswana, unveiled the debut edition of the RADP Booklet this morning. The booklet introduces detailed profiles of all participants in the RADP pageant, all situated in Gaborone. Mrs. Masisi, who holds patronage over both the Miss RADP and Mr. RADP fashion show, headlined the event, symbolizing its importance.
During her address, Mrs. Neo Masisi articulated that the Remote Area Development Programme (RADP) embodies a multifaceted rural development strategy, aiming to ensure inclusivity by reaching every segment of society. This strategy harmonizes with the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030, highlighting the program’s commitment to comprehensive growth.
Calling attention to the Miss RADP pageant and Mr. RADP fashion show, Mrs. Masisi underscored their status as empowering platforms for the youth. Originating in 2013, these endeavors have not only expanded significantly over time but have also gained prominence, delivering a tangible impact on the lives of the brand ambassadors involved.

Aligning the RADP initiative with the Mindset Change campaign, a cornerstone of the RESET AGENDA, Mrs. Masisi envisioned Miss RADP and Mr. RADP as future mentors and agents of transformation within their respective communities. As young individuals forge ahead, they are set to provide inspiration and guidance.
Regarding the pageant’s design and objectives, Mrs. Masisi stressed their meticulous alignment with the 2014 Affirmative Action Framework for Remote Area communities. Encompassing an array of aspects including social enhancement, employment, training, and economic progress, the overarching theme of both the Miss RADP and Mr. RADP Fashion show, “Uplifting Natural Beauty and Talent,” reverberates powerfully. With a resolute focus on gender empowerment, these initiatives stand as catalysts for uplifting the youth from remote regions, opening avenues for talent recognition, and facilitating their participation in national showcases.
