Siemens-Stiftung Empowers Nigerian Students, Teachers with Digital Skills

German private foundation Siemens-Stiftung, in collaboration with the German Missions in Nigeria, has successfully completed its beMINT program, providing practical digital and soft skills training to 300 Nigerian secondary school students/graduates and 60 public school teachers. The program, which focused on STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), was implemented over the course of one year and saw zero dropouts.

In a partnership with the Nigerian NGO Empowering Africans through Education Initiative (EAE) and the University of Lagos, the beMINT program aimed to equip students and teachers with essential skills to thrive in the digital age. Through a combination of training and internships, participants were given the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and capabilities in the fields of mathematics, engineering, science, and technology.

The German Missions in Nigeria played a crucial role in facilitating the collaboration, ensuring that the program reached its intended beneficiaries. With the support of the German government, Siemens-Stiftung was able to provide the necessary resources to deliver a comprehensive and impactful initiative.

Throughout the duration of the program, all participants remained committed and engaged, leading to an impressive zero drop-out rate. This achievement reflects the dedication and effectiveness of the beMINT program in empowering Nigerian students and teachers with the skills needed for success in the modern workforce.
