Accra – President Hakainde Hichilema of the Republic of Zambia expressed his deep honor after visiting the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Memorial Park in Accra. The visit served as an opportunity for President Hichilema to pay homage to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the esteemed Founding Father of Ghana, renowned Pan-Africanist, and an iconic figure in the struggle for African liberation.

President Hichilema described the experience of witnessing the artifacts that depict Dr. Nkrumah’s political journey leading up to Ghana’s independence as deeply moving. The collection serves as a testament to the significant role played by Dr. Nkrumah in shaping Ghana’s history.

The placement of the Mausoleum on the very spot where Dr. Nkrumah declared Ghana’s independence in 1957 holds immense symbolism. It reflects the profound admiration and respect the people of Ghana hold for him, recognizing him not only as a liberator of Ghana but as an inspiration for the entire African continent.

Dr. Nkrumah’s famous words, “Our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of the African Continent,” continue to resonate with Africa’s new generation of leaders. They are dedicated to the relentless fight against poverty and strive for equal economic partnerships on the global stage. These leaders understand the importance of Africa harnessing its resources through value addition for the betterment of its people.
