Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, held a significant meeting with the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, today at State House. Secretary Blinken was joined by the United States Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah-Ann Lynch, as well as other high-ranking US government officials. The meeting was attended by several key Guyanese officials, including Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, and various cabinet ministers and government representatives.
During the meeting, President Irfaan Ali emphasized his government’s desire to strengthen the existing partnership between Guyana and the United States. This enhanced collaboration is sought in various areas, particularly food security, energy security, and climate security. In a joint press engagement following the meeting, President Ali expressed admiration for the positive relationship between the two nations and outlined Guyana’s vision for the future.
President Ali stated, “Guyana aims to position itself as a global leader in energy security, food security, and climate security. We are eager to expand our partnership with the United States in all of these critical domains.” The President’s remarks highlighted the importance of close cooperation between Guyana and the US in addressing pressing global challenges.
The joint press conference also featured Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, and other government officials.
