Hong Kong – On July 1, 2023, the South African Consul General, Mr. Mojalefa Mogono, participated in a grand celebration of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People’s Republic of China. The momentous event, held with great pomp and splendor, showcased South Africa’s rich cultural heritage and its alluring tourism offerings.

During the celebration, Consul General Mr. Mojalefa Mogono took center stage, presenting the audience with an insightful glimpse into South Africa’s diverse and vibrant cultural heritage. He eloquently highlighted the country’s traditions, arts, and customs, leaving the attendees mesmerized by the depth and richness of South African culture.

In the company of other distinguished dignitaries, Consul General Mr. Mojalefa Mogono also had the honor of officiating the prestigious International Culture and Tourism Exhibition at the renowned Asia World Expo 2023. This exhibition served as a melting pot of cultures and countries, providing a platform for participants to showcase and promote their unique cultural legacies and tourism treasures. The South African Consul General’s presence further solidified the bonds of friendship and cultural exchange between South Africa and Hong Kong.

Adding a touch of artistic flair to the exhibition, South African embroidery artist, Lerato Motau, graced the event with her exceptional creations. Motau’s intricate and captivating embroidery pieces, inspired by the essence of South African heritage, left the visitors enchanted and intrigued. Her artistic display at the Asia World Expo 2023 truly exemplified the creative brilliance and artistic diversity of South Africa.
