Ambassador Vusi Mavimbela recently hosted an informal dinner for BRICS ambassadors at the Official Residence of South Africa in Brasilia. The dinner was held as South Africa assumes the role of Chair of BRICS for 2023.
In attendance were Ambassadors Eduardo Saboia (Brazil’s BRICS Sherpa), Alexey Labetskiy (Russia), Suresh Reddy (India), and Zhu Qingqiao (China). Additionally, several officials from all five countries were present to partake in the event.
South Africa, in its capacity as the BRICS Chair, will be hosting the 15th BRICS Summit from August 22-25, 2023. The summit’s theme, “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism,” underscores the focus on fostering collaboration and inclusive development between BRICS nations and Africa.
