GABORONE, Saturday, 13th May 2023 – President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and his delegation bid farewell to Botswana today, marking the end of a productive three-day state visit. The purpose of this visit was to further solidify the existing bilateral relations between the two nations.

During his stay in Botswana, President Tshisekedi embarked on a series of engagements aimed at fostering cooperation and exploring opportunities for mutual growth. Notable highlights included visits to key institutions and landmarks. Among the places he visited were the renowned Jwaneng Mine, providing the President with insights into Botswana’s thriving mining sector. President Tshisekedi also toured the HB Anterwerb Botswana facility, gaining firsthand knowledge of the country’s industrial capabilities.

An important event during the visit was the official opening of the DRC Chancery. This symbolic gesture reinforces the commitment of both countries to enhance diplomatic ties and promote effective communication channels.

President Tshisekedi’s visit underscored the mutual desire to strengthen the bond between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Botswana. The discussions held between the two leaders and their respective delegations focused on various areas of collaboration, including trade, investment, and regional cooperation.

The successful conclusion of this state visit sets the stage for deeper cooperation and paves the way for future collaborations between the two nations. As President Tshisekedi and his delegation depart Botswana, the shared commitment to a prosperous and harmonious partnership between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Botswana remains stronger than ever.
