Twelve professionals from the Lagos National Museum in Nigeria have completed a Wood Conservation Training program organized in partnership with Yale University and the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Nigeria. The training was provided by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, with the aim of preserving heritage and culturally important objects to help nations strengthen their identity, diversity, and economy.
The Wood Conservation Training program covered the principles and techniques of wood conservation, as well as the preservation of objects made of wood, such as sculptures, furniture, and musical instruments. The program was held over the course of a week, providing the museum professionals with practical skills and knowledge to help them conserve and preserve wood artifacts in their collections.

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria believes that preserving cultural heritage is an important part of promoting diversity and fostering economic growth. By providing training programs like this, the mission hopes to help museums and cultural institutions in Nigeria and around the world protect and promote their cultural heritage for future generations.
