On May 5th, 2023, Ambassador Notutela-Mthabela joined in the celebration of Nelson Mandela Day at the Nelson Mandela High School in Gabon. The event commemorated the life and legacy of the late South African president, Nelson Mandela, who devoted his life to fighting for social justice and human rights.
The Ambassador’s attendance at the event highlighted the strong ties between South Africa and Gabon and demonstrated the importance of promoting the values of peace, reconciliation, and equality that Mandela stood for.
The celebration included various activities, such as music performances, art exhibitions, and speeches that honored Mandela’s contributions to the world. The Ambassador was also given an opportunity to address the students and guests, where she emphasized the significance of Mandela’s vision and the need to continue his work in creating a better future for all.
The event was organized by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in partnership with the Gabonese government and the Nelson Mandela High School. The Foundation seeks to uphold Mandela’s values and legacy by promoting education, health, and social justice initiatives in Africa and around the world.
