Harare, Zimbabwe – His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini and Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa have engaged in bilateral talks at the Zimbabwe State House in Harare. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters of mutual cooperation and identified areas that could be improved to incorporate current needs.
King Mswati III arrived in Harare on the afternoon of April 30, 2023, to mark the first day of his state visit at the invitation of the Zimbabwe President. The two leaders later shared talks that centred on reviewing existing agreements between the two countries. They also explored ways to further strengthen their ties by identifying areas of mutual interest, such as business opportunities, cultural exchanges, and tourism.
The Eswatini King expressed his appreciation for the invitation to the Transform Africa Summit 2023, which he described as highly beneficial for his country at a critical time of the digital era. He thanked President Mnangagwa for the continued cordial relations that happily exist between the two countries.
“I look forward to attending the Trade Fair where we will get to see the best of what Zimbabwe has to offer and explore business opportunities. We also hope we will get an opportunity to share what Eswatini has to offer, which expands into our culture,” King Mswati III said.
The King also noted that the revival of the new airline, Eswatini Air, would go a long way in improving trade and access of citizens to both countries. The airline will provide direct flights between the two countries and facilitate trade and business opportunities.
The state banquet in honour of the King’s visit is scheduled to be held at the State House this evening, where the two leaders will further discuss issues of mutual interest. The Eswatini King’s state visit is expected to strengthen the existing ties between the two countries and pave the way for further cooperation in the future.
