ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa on the occasion of his country’s Freedom Day celebrations, marked annually on 27th April.
The congratulatory message from the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reflects the close relationship and longstanding friendship between the UAE and South Africa. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised South Africa’s progress and achievements in its journey towards democracy and independence.
In addition to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s message, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, also dispatched similar messages to the South African President.
Freedom Day is a significant date in South Africa’s history, commemorating the country’s first democratic elections in 1994, when citizens of all races were allowed to vote for the first time. The day marks the end of apartheid and the beginning of a new era of democracy, equality and freedom in the country.
