Dr. Bobby Moroe, South Africa’s Consul-General to Nigeria, took to his Instagram profile to share exciting news about the recent developments in aviation cooperation between South Africa and Nigeria. On February 18, 2023, the SA-Nigeria Aviation Forum was launched, and today, it has been announced that Nigeria has procured the Jabiru Series Type Aircraft from South Africa, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral aviation relations.

The Jabiru Series Type Aircraft, manufactured in South Africa, will be assembled in Nigeria, showcasing the growing collaboration between the two African nations in the aviation industry. The acceptance certificate process for the aircraft is currently underway in George, Western Cape, by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a step towards ensuring compliance with aviation safety standards.

The SA-Nigeria Aviation Forum serves as a platform for fostering partnerships and exchanging knowledge in aviation-related areas, and the procurement of the Jabiru aircraft exemplifies the tangible outcomes of such collaborative efforts.

In addition to the aviation cooperation, the South African Consulate is hosting the South Africa Week from April 22 to April 29, 2023, to celebrate 29 years of diplomatic relations between South Africa and Nigeria, as well as 29 years of democracy in South Africa. This event is a testament to the strong bond and friendship shared between the two countries, with a focus on promoting cultural exchange, trade, and investment opportunities.
