The CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose Quatre, has called for closer collaboration between the APRM and the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) to promote democratic governance, peace, and security across Africa. She made this statement at the opening of the Sitting of Permanent Committees of the 6th Parliament of the PAP.
Quatre said that joint efforts between the two institutions could help prevent conflicts and long-term instability, which have devastating effects on human lives and economic development. “Working together, PAP and the APRM can contribute significantly to prevent wars and protracted instability that exact a huge cost in terms of human life and socio-economic progress,” she said.
She also voiced support for the African Union’s institutional reforms, describing them as essential for modernizing governance structures. “The African Peer Review Mechanism stands in full solidarity with the African Union’s efforts to modernize our institutions through the ongoing institutional reforms. We reaffirm our commitment to working with the Pan-African Parliament and all AU institutions to ensure that we deliver, with impact and tangible results for our African citizens,” she stated.
