Abu Dhabi, Nov. 26 – The UAE has sent two planes carrying urgent humanitarian aid to Zambia and Guinea Conakry, responding to severe weather-related crises in both countries.
A flight with 50 tonnes of food supplies arrived in Zambia, where a prolonged drought has left many people without enough food. Meanwhile, another plane carrying 40 tonnes of aid landed in Guinea Conakry to assist those affected by recent floods that caused widespread damage.
The UAE’s response is part of its ongoing commitment to providing assistance during natural disasters and environmental challenges, particularly across Africa.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations, reiterated the UAE’s focus on humanitarian aid, following the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He also noted the dire situation in Zambia, where the drought has severely impacted agriculture, threatening food security for thousands.
Al Shamsi emphasized that the UAE’s foreign aid policy aims to strengthen its ties with friendly nations through meaningful humanitarian support, particularly during crises such as the recent flooding in Guinea Conakry.
