Frankfurt, Germany – Lufthansa Group has expanded its flight suspensions to the Middle East as tensions in the region escalate. The German airline giant announced on Monday that it would cease operations to Israel and Iran until at least August 12th.

Previously suspended flights to Beirut, Lebanon will continue to be grounded until the same date. Additionally, services to Amman, Jordan, and Erbil, Iraq have been halted until August 7th.

As a precautionary measure, Lufthansa Group airlines will also avoid airspace over Iraq and Iran until August 7th.

The move comes in response to growing hostilities between Israel and Iran. Passengers affected by the cancellations can rebook their flights without charge or opt for a full refund for bookings made until August 20th.

The flight ban encompasses all Lufthansa Group airlines, including Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.
