Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia is looking to enhance its diplomatic capabilities with increased support from Türkiye, according to a meeting between Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed and the Director of Türkiye’s Diplomatic Academy, Prof. Dr. Mesut Özcan.
The two officials discussed expanding cooperation in diplomatic training and strengthening ties between the Somali Diplomatic Institute and its Turkish counterpart. Minister Fiqi expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s role in training over 80 Somali diplomats in the past 15 years and called for more advanced training programs.
The meeting comes as Somalia prepares to launch a junior diplomatic course in Mogadishu. Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, also attended the meeting.
