The recent attacks on Igbo people in Lagos during the February 25 and March 18 polls have prompted the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to issue a warning. In a statement released on Thursday by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB vowed to take action against any further mistreatment of the Igbo in Lagos.
The secessionist group also advised Ndigbo to stop investing in Lagos and prepare for mass relocation, forming groups to defend themselves against physical harm in the meantime.
IPOB expressed disappointment at the silence of Yoruba leaders regarding the anti-Igbo sentiments in Lagos, describing it as a threat to the entire Biafra nation. The group blamed politicians and their thugs for the attacks, warning that those responsible would soon regret their actions. IPOB stated that every Biafran should prepare to leave Lagos, and urged Ndigbo to sell or lease their properties while relocating to the East.
According to IPOB, the Eastern Region has existing markets and land to accommodate all businesses and individuals relocating from Lagos. The group called on newly elected governors and House of Assembly members in the region to work with communities to make land available for international markets and industrialization projects.
IPOB encouraged other markets to relocate from Lagos to Igboland, adding that the thought of relocating businesses back to the Eastern Region is long overdue. The group advised those in Lagos to return to the East to avoid losing their lives and properties to political conspirators and their hooligans.
