Napoli defeat Frankfurt with Osimhen brace

Napoli comfortably secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, thanks to two goals from Victor Osimhen in their victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite already holding a two-goal advantage from the first leg, Osimhen’s powerful header just before half-time put any remaining nerves to bed at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Nigerian striker then struck again early in the second half, tapping in from Giovanni di Lorenzo’s cross, before being fouled in the box and earning a penalty, which Piotr Zielinski coolly converted to make it 3-0.

With a comfortable 18-point lead at the top of Serie A, Napoli are now among the contenders for the top prize in European football.

However, the build-up to the match was marred by clashes between Eintracht Frankfurt fans and police, as the fans had defied a ban on attending the second leg of the last-16 tie.
