Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), H.E. Ntšiuoa C. Sekete, presented Letters of Credence to the Executive Secretary, H.E. Antonio M.A. Pedro, in the capital Addis Ababa today.
The Ambassador was received by the Executive Secretary in his office, where they discussed a range of issues of mutual interest to Lesotho and the UNECA.
H.E. Antonio Pedro welcomed the Ambassador and pledged further support to Lesotho in its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063.
He also emphasized the importance of synchronising programs and activities between Lesotho and the UNECA to ensure that the Kingdom is able to fully benefit from the support of the UN.

Ambassador Sekete relayed greetings from His Majesty King Letsie III to the Executive Secretary and the Commission.
She also commended the Commission for its support of Lesotho in addressing pressing socio-economic issues and praised its historical efforts to improve the standard of living of the Basotho people.
The Ambassador highlighted that among Lesotho’s current priorities are the development of capacity in the areas of energy, trade, climate change, the environment, and agriculture.
She said that Lesotho was looking forward to continued support from the UNECA in these areas in order to harness the benefits of its commodities and strengthen its economy.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the UNECA, H.E. Said Djinnit, and other senior officials from the Commission.
