ISTANBUL, 10th June, 2023 (WAM) – President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Türkiye today for a working visit and engaged in discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to strengthen the growing bilateral relations between the UAE and Türkiye while exploring opportunities for further collaboration.

During the meeting, President Sheikh Mohamed expressed his delight at meeting President Erdogan once again, congratulating him on the successful electoral process and the trust bestowed upon him by the Turkish people.

The meeting between the two leaders builds upon the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed earlier this year, which aims to bolster strategic cooperation and sustainable economic growth for the mutual benefit of both nations, their citizens, and the region. The agreement, signed in March, coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Türkiye, further cementing the longstanding partnership that has been strengthened through reciprocal state visits between the two presidents.

Both President Sheikh Mohamed and President Erdogan commended the recent advancements in UAE-Türkiye relations and deliberated on the benefits of the CEPA agreement, which holds the promise of stimulating trade and fostering increased investment flows between the two countries. The leaders also discussed their shared commitment to promoting sustainable economic growth and social development, exploring opportunities for collaboration in various key sectors such as the economy, advanced technology, renewable energy, transport and logistics, manufacturing, tourism, and culture.

Additionally, the leaders engaged in discussions on regional and international developments, reiterating their belief in the importance of promoting regional stability and cooperation to support sustainable progress for present and future generations.

President Erdogan warmly welcomed President Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanying delegation, expressing his sincere desire to continue strengthening ties between both nations for the betterment of their people, as well as to enhance peace and stability in the region and the world. President Erdogan emphasized the special significance Türkiye attaches to its relations with the UAE, considering it an important economic partner in supporting development, stability, and peace.
