Kazakhstan, China strengthen cooperation after President Tokayev’s visit

Xian, China – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan concluded his successful three-day state visit to China today, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship between the two countries. The visit coincided with the China-Central Asia Summit held on May 18-19, which saw the participation of heads of all Central Asian states. President Tokayev expressed his appreciation for the robust ties between Kazakhstan and China, highlighting the visit’s significance in ushering in a new era of cooperation.

The China-Central Asia Summit provided a platform for fruitful discussions and exchanges between leaders from the region. During the summit, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and deepening ties between Kazakhstan and China. The summit served as a valuable opportunity to address shared challenges, explore avenues for collaboration, and promote regional stability and development.

President Tokayev’s state visit was characterized by productive meetings and discussions with Chinese counterparts. The Kazakh leader engaged in bilateral talks with high-ranking Chinese officials, including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and other key stakeholders. These meetings allowed both sides to discuss a wide range of issues, including trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and cultural exchanges.

Highlighting the significance of his visit, President Tokayev described it as a new chapter in the 30-year-long Kazakh-Chinese cooperation. The visit underscored the deepening friendship and mutual trust between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced collaboration across various sectors. President Tokayev expressed confidence in the future prospects of the bilateral relationship, emphasizing the shared commitment to advancing cooperation for the benefit of both countries and the wider region.

The visit also witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding, further strengthening the foundation of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. These agreements encompassed diverse fields, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties. President Tokayev’s visit to China serves as a testament to the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China. The strengthened ties and increased cooperation are poised to contribute significantly to regional stability, economic growth, and mutual understanding.

As President Tokayev concluded his visit and returned to Kazakhstan, the positive outcomes and momentum generated by this historic visit are expected to shape the future trajectory of bilateral relations.
