Tonga and Thailand strengthen bilateral cooperation in post-pandemic era

The Honorable Minister for Foreign Affairs visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, engaging in a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Thai Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs. The discussion centered around enhancing cooperation between Tonga and Thailand and addressing regional developments in the post-pandemic era.

During the meeting, the officials highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and exploring avenues for collaboration. Both Tonga and Thailand recognized the significance of cooperation in various sectors to overcome the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure sustainable growth and development in the future.

The Honorable Minister expressed gratitude for Thailand’s warm hospitality and extended appreciation for their longstanding support and cooperation. The Minister emphasized the significance of bilateral relations in fostering mutual understanding, shared prosperity, and addressing common regional challenges.

H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi reciprocated the sentiment, affirming Thailand’s commitment to further deepening cooperation with Tonga. The Vice-Minister acknowledged Tonga’s resilience in navigating the pandemic and expressed admiration for the country’s efforts in safeguarding public health and socio-economic stability.

The discussions primarily focused on identifying key areas for collaboration, including trade, investment, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges. Both parties recognized the potential for increased economic cooperation and agreed to explore opportunities for business partnerships and investment promotion.

Additionally, the officials deliberated on regional developments in the post-pandemic era.
