Windhoek, Namibia – On March 7, 2023, a Ministerial delegation from the Republic of South Africa attended the opening session of the Extraordinary meeting of the Organ Troika Ministerial Committee Plus SADC Troika and FIB TCCs held in Windhoek, Namibia. The delegation was led by Defence Minister, Ms. Thandi Modise, and she was accompanied by International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister, Ms. Candith Mashego-Dlamini and SA’s High Commissioner to Namibia, H.E Ms. Thenjiwe Mtintso.
The meeting, which was held at a crucial time in the region, brought together key stakeholders to discuss matters of regional security and cooperation. The delegations from various countries included high-ranking officials from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN), as well as representatives from various other international organizations.

During the opening session, the delegation from South Africa highlighted the importance of cooperation and collaboration among the countries in the region to promote peace, stability, and development. They emphasized the need for continued efforts to address the various security challenges faced by the region, including terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational organized crime.
In her address to the gathering, Defence Minister Thandi Modise reiterated South Africa’s commitment to regional security and cooperation. She stated that South Africa would continue to work closely with its neighbors and partners in the region to promote peace and stability, and to build a safer and more prosperous future for all.

The meeting continued with discussions on a range of topics, including conflict prevention and resolution, the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, and the promotion of economic development and integration in the region. The delegations also discussed the ongoing efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the region.
As the meeting concluded, the delegations expressed their commitment to continued cooperation and collaboration, and their determination to work together to address the various challenges facing the region. The Ministerial delegation from South Africa returned home with renewed optimism for the future of regional cooperation and development.
