NEW YORK – On 7 May 2025, Lesotho and Jordan officially established formal diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level. The agreement was signed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York by Lesotho’s Ambassador to the UN, Matete ‘Nena, and Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Mahmoud Daifallah Hmoud.
The move marks the beginning of strengthened bilateral cooperation between the two nations, both of which share common interests and priorities within the United Nations system. Jordan, located in Western Asia, is recognized for its stability in the Middle East and its critical role in hosting the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in its capital, Amman.
