Maseru, Lesotho – Tanzania’s new High Commissioner to Lesotho, James Gilawa Bwana, presented his Letters of Credence to King Letsie III at the Royal Palace on March 5, 2025.
Bwana replaces Major General Gaudence Salim Milanzi (Rtd), who completed his tenure. The new High Commissioner will handle diplomatic affairs with Lesotho from Pretoria, South Africa, as a non-resident envoy.
Lesotho and Tanzania established diplomatic ties on January 23, 1971, with cooperation in education and healthcare. Both governments are exploring partnerships in agriculture, food security, and energy.
Tanzania has contributed to Lesotho’s peace processes through the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
