Zambia’s political stability remains a key factor in attracting investment, according to Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaking at the International Business Exchange (IBEx) Hybrid Conference in Lusaka, Gundersen highlighted that Zambia’s long history of peace creates a secure environment for business development, reassuring investors about the country’s stability and potential for returns.

During her address at the conference, held under the theme “Redefining Diaspora: Connecting Businesses & Unlocking Zambia’s Economic Potential,” Gundersen outlined the core principles of Zambia’s foreign policy—peace, security, stability, and economic diplomacy. She emphasized the Ministry’s role in fostering investment and ensuring Zambia’s place in the global business community.

Gundersen also discussed the critical role of the Diaspora in Zambia’s growth, calling for greater engagement from Zambians living abroad in the nation’s development programs. She stressed the importance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to the economy and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting their growth through the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for SMEs.

She further touched on efforts to remove barriers hindering SME operations and encouraged the Diaspora to fully utilize Zambia’s online portal to improve government service delivery and engagement.
