GHANA – The redevelopment of the Land Use Planning and Management Information System (LUPMIS) has officially begun in Ghana. The integrated system is designed to improve land use planning by simplifying processes such as plan preparations and permitting.
LUPMIS will serve as a centralized platform for storing both spatial and textual data, providing planners with easier access to important information. The system aims to improve decision-making and reporting, making it easier for stakeholders to track activities and ensure accountability in land management.
The initiative is a collaboration between several organizations, including the Participation, Accountability, and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy programme, BMZ, the European Union, the Embassy of Switzerland, and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs. The project is being implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
