Somali-Norwegian Business Summit Opens in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, January 27, 2025 – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, inaugurated the Somali-Norwegian Business Summit on Monday in Mogadishu. The event was attended by members of the Somali Federal Parliament, Norwegian Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Carsten Carlsen, and Somali diaspora members from Norway.

The summit, themed “Unlocking Somalia’s Potential: Reducing Corruption, Empowering Investments, and Building Sustainable Partnerships,” aimed to promote economic recovery and strengthen ties between the two nations.

Foreign Minister Fiqi commended the Somali diaspora in Norway for fostering bilateral connections and acknowledged Norway’s support for development projects. He called for collaborative efforts to support Somalia’s recovery and sustainable growth.

The event also featured addresses from Ibrahim Gure Mohamed, Director of the Diaspora Department, and leaders of the Somali-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, Mohamed Abdelqader and Sadad Dakhare.
