Ethiopia and Azerbaijan strengthened diplomatic ties during the third political consultations held in Addis Ababa. The discussions were led by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yalchin Rafiyev.
Ambassador Mesganu noted steady progress in the bilateral relationship and described the consultation platform as vital for enhancing cooperation and addressing shared priorities. He proposed expanding collaboration into agriculture, mining, ICT, manufacturing, and the green economy.
He also called on Azerbaijani companies to take advantage of Ethiopia’s economic reforms and investment opportunities. Highlighting Ethiopia’s environmental efforts, he referred to the Green Legacy Initiative, which has resulted in the planting of over 40 billion seedlings in six years.
Deputy Minister Rafiyev acknowledged the growing exchange of high-level visits between the two nations. He revealed that Azerbaijani delegations would engage with Ethiopian institutions such as the Ethiopian Investment Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture to explore joint ventures.
Both sides expressed their determination to implement pending agreements and deepen partnerships across various sectors.
