MAPUTO, Jan 17 – Mozambique President Daniel Chapo has appointed Carla Louveira as the country’s new finance minister and Estevão Pale as minister of mineral resources and energy.
Louveira, who previously served as the deputy minister of economy and finance since 2020, has extensive experience in financial management. She also held the position of director of the Office of Financial Inclusion at the Bank of Mozambique. The president’s decision to split the finance and economy ministries into two distinct entities has paved the way for her appointment.
Pale, who chaired Mozambique’s national oil company ENH since 2020 and previously led the national directorate of mines in the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, is expected to play a critical role in managing the country’s energy resources.
