Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially assumed the G20 Presidency, promising a year focused on solidarity, equality, and sustainability. In his acceptance speech at the G20 Closing Ceremony, Ramaphosa praised Brazil’s successful presidency and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the global forum.

The South African president highlighted the importance of civil society engagement and vowed to continue the innovative approach initiated by Brazil. He emphasized the role of civil society in shaping the future and acknowledged its contribution to South Africa’s democratic journey.

Ramaphosa acknowledged the pressing global challenges, including climate change, inequality, and geopolitical tensions. He pledged to address these issues through a focus on inclusive economic growth, food security, and artificial intelligence.
