Accra, Ghana – The Energy Commission has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB), a landmark achievement in sustainable construction. This innovative office space showcases the potential for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly buildings in Ghana.
Powered by solar energy for 88% of its energy needs, the NZEB significantly reduces its carbon footprint compared to conventional buildings. This groundbreaking project, funded by the German Federal Government and implemented by GIZ Ghana, exemplifies the strong partnership between the two nations in promoting sustainable development.

The commissioning ceremony was led by Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, representing the Ministry of Energy. Dignitaries from the Energy Commission, the German Embassy, and GIZ Ghana were also present to celebrate this milestone.
Mr. Tangmar Marmon, Cluster Coordinator at GIZ, highlighted the building’s potential to inspire a paradigm shift in Ghana’s construction industry: “We are not only strengthening the Energy Commission but also aiming to empower the entire energy and building sectors.”
