President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera arrived in Beijing on Monday to attend the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, set for September 4th to 6th. Accompanied by First Lady Monica Chakwera, the President landed at Beijing Capital International Airport, where they were welcomed by Ms. Cao Shumin, Head of China’s State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television; Beijing Municipal Vice Chairman Mr. Han; Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo; and Malawi Ambassador to China Allan Chintedza.
Later that evening, President Chakwera was scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, followed by a dinner at the Diaoyutai State Guest House. A key part of his visit includes a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, focusing on strengthening relations between Malawi and China.
