Maseru, Lesotho – The Orange-Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM), a transboundary river basin organization, has welcomed Mr. Comfort Molosiwa as its new Executive Secretary. Mr. Molosiwa, a national of Botswana, assumed his position on May 1, 2024, on a five-year contract.

ORASECOM, established to promote the equitable and sustainable development of the Orange-Senqu River’s resources, comprises Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and South Africa. The Commission serves as a platform for consultation and coordination among these riparian states to foster integrated water resource management within the Senqu basin.

Mr. Molosiwa’s appointment marks a significant milestone as he becomes the first Botswana citizen to hold this executive position. He succeeds Mr. Lenka Thamae from Lesotho, who served as the inaugural Executive Secretary of ORASECOM.

During his visit to Lesotho, Mr. Molosiwa paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Honourable Lejone Mpotjoana.
