Malawi’s President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, has concluded his visit to Berlin with a significant meeting alongside German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Steinmeier’s official residence. The leaders revisited the robust relationship between Malawi and Germany, which has been maintained since Malawi’s independence in 1964.
Both presidents agreed to deepen their collaboration, particularly in light of Malawi’s newly adopted development framework, the Malawi 2063 Vision. This agenda outlines the country’s goals for sustainable growth and development over the coming decades.

During his stay in Berlin, President Chakwera garnered strong support for his vision, which prioritizes sustainable investments in Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining—collectively known as the ATM Strategy. This approach aims to drive economic growth and ensure long-term sustainability in these critical sectors.
After a productive visit marked by constructive discussions and mutual commitments, President Chakwera is scheduled to return to Malawi later today.
