Gaborone, Botswana – The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), in partnership with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, hosted a successful Multisectoral Trade Mission between Botswana and Brazil on August 22, 2024.
The mission aimed to foster business relations between the two countries and showcase Botswana’s diverse investment opportunities. Local businesses had the chance to present their offerings to a Brazilian delegation, highlighting sectors such as agriculture, retail, and more.
The Pandamatenga Commercial Farmers Association presented its agricultural sector, emphasizing the potential for collaboration in expertise and markets. Choppies and Sefalana, leading retailers in Botswana, showcased their value propositions and invited Brazilian businesses to explore opportunities for trade partnerships.
A question-and-answer session facilitated dialogue between businesses to explore avenues for collaboration. The Brazilian delegation expressed particular interest in the agricultural value chain offered by the Pandamatenga Commercial Farmers Association.
BITC CEO Keletsositse Olebile encouraged the Brazilian delegation to make the most of their visit and commended both ambassadors for their efforts in making the trade mission a success. He emphasized the potential for collaboration between the two countries, given their many similarities.
Minister of Trade and Investment Mmusi Kgafela praised the leadership of both Botswana and Brazil in fostering the relationship between the two nations, which dates back to 2005. He urged Botswana businesses to seize the opportunities presented by the preferential market access between the two countries.
The Executive Director of Investment Promotion, Trunklinah Gabonthone, highlighted Botswana’s unique selling points and favorable incentives for doing business. She shared key investment opportunities available in the country.
