Gaborone, Botswana – The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with key stakeholders to launch the Botswana Air Access project. The initiative aims to enhance the country’s competitiveness and attract more tourists and businesses.
The signatories of the MOU include the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, Botswana Tourism, Business Botswana, the Travel Agents Association of Botswana, and the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana.
The Botswana Air Access project seeks to increase direct air access between Botswana and international markets by establishing new international routes. This will make Botswana a more attractive destination for tourism and business, ultimately driving economic growth and job creation.
As the country’s leading investment and trade promotion agency, BITC’s involvement in the project will enable it to align its investor targeting strategy and strengthen Botswana’s value proposition in the cargo and logistics sector. Given the importance of infrastructure development and supply routes within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), direct flights for exportable products are crucial.
The Botswana Air Access project is expected to play a significant role in boosting the country’s tourism and trade sectors. By improving air connectivity, Botswana can attract more foreign direct investment and create new opportunities for businesses and its citizens.
