Mbabane, Eswatini – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to announce its collaboration with other UN agencies, SGN Grant Thornton, and the Government of Eswatini in facilitating the 2nd Eswatini Green Indaba.
The two-day Indaba, which kicked off today, August 22, aims to foster climate-smart investments and promote sustainable development in Eswatini. Key objectives include building climate resilience through public-private partnerships, mobilizing innovative financing for green growth, achieving energy independence, and developing effective climate policies to enhance food security and health.
The Indaba will delve into specific thematic areas such as climate-responsive food systems, the intersection of environmental sustainability and public health, and the crucial roles of youth empowerment and gender equality. These areas align with UNDP’s strategic focus in Eswatini.
Building upon the successes of the inaugural Indaba and other conferences held throughout the year, the event aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap for Eswatini’s sustainable development.
UNDP is actively supporting the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs in developing a strategy that will transition Eswatini to a low-carbon economy by 2050.
