Oxford, United Kingdom – Renowned Nigerian author and filmmaker, Onyeka Nwelue, has thrown his hat into the ring for the prestigious position of Chancellor of Oxford University. The announcement came in a formal declaration where Nwelue expressed deep admiration for the institution’s legacy and outlined his vision for its future.

Nwelue, whose literary career spans over two decades and includes the publication of more than thirty books, believes his academic experiences at Oxford and Cambridge Universities have equipped him with the necessary insight to lead the institution. He emphasized his commitment to fostering cutting-edge research and forging strategic partnerships to elevate Oxford’s global standing.

Drawing inspiration from the life of Christian Frederick Cole, the first African to graduate from Oxford, Nwelue highlighted the transformative power of education and the university’s role as a bastion of intellectual excellence. He underscored the importance of overcoming challenges, both academic and societal, to achieve greatness.
