Accra, Ghana – Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, engaged in a crucial bilateral meeting with five Nordic Foreign Ministers in Accra on August 14, 2024. The discussions took place during the Nordic Ministers’ two-day working visit to Ghana, marking a significant step in the diplomatic ties between Ghana and the Nordic region.
The meeting addressed vital topics including global security, regional development, counter-terrorism, trade, democracy, human rights, and climate change. Minister Botchwey described the visit as historic, emphasizing the strengthening of relations between Ghana and the Nordic countries.

The Nordic delegation included Tobias Billström, Foreign Minister of Sweden; Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Foreign Minister of Denmark; Elina Valtonen, Foreign Minister of Finland; Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir, Foreign Minister of Iceland; and Bjørg Sandkjær, Norway’s State Secretary for International Development. They collectively pledged to deepen relations with Ghana and reaffirmed their support for ongoing bilateral and multilateral collaborations.
Senior officials from Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and their Nordic counterparts were also present at the meeting.
