JUBA, South Sudan – Prominent South Sudanese diplomat, Ambassador Bior Ajang Duot, died unexpectedly at his home in Juba on Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced on Wednesday.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Ambassador John Samuel Bwogo, revealed that the seasoned diplomat succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Ajang, a respected figure in South Sudan’s political landscape, had served as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2016. Prior to this, he held a similar position at the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs.
In a statement, Ambassador Bwogo extended the ministry’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and the entire Twic community, where Ajang served as chairperson until his demise.
The late diplomat was lauded for his immense contributions to South Sudan’s foreign affairs and national defense. His death has sent shockwaves through the nation, with many mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant.
Ajang’s legacy, the ministry said, will continue to inspire future generations of South Sudanese leaders.
