Kano, Nigeria – Few days after the #endbadgovernance protest, not less than 600 of the 873 suspects arrested for the destruction and looting of government and public properties during the Protest have been prosecuted in Kano state, Northern part of Nigeria.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba who disclosed this during a press conference where suspects were paraded on Monday, added that the 600 protesters were arrested and prosecuted for various offences, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, riot, theft, mischief, and arson.

According to Dogo, 76 people including a foreigner were apprehended for flying Russian flags during the protest in Kano State and they have been transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for discreet investigation on charges of sedition.
Dogo explained that 150 suspects were sued for violating the curfew enforced by the Kano State Government and an additional 6 suspects linked with masterminding the destruction, setting ablaze and looting of the Kano Printing Press (KPP) as part of undergoing investigation.

He narrated that 41 suspects were arrested for other major crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft and recovery of two AK-47 Exhibit Rifles and other substantial properties looted by the hoodlums at Audu Baku Secretariat NCC Office, High Court Complexes, Kano Printing Press (KPP), Super Markets.
However, the Police Commissioner stated that despite the challenges posed by the recent protest, no single death was recorded in Kano State. He said, “Going by the records, so far, we are not aware of any casualties recorded.”
