Lusaka, Zambia – Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema held high-level talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Tuesday, reaffirming the two nations’ commitment to bolstering bilateral relations while addressing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The meeting, held at State House, focused on deepening the 30-year-old partnership between Zambia and Ukraine. President Hichilema emphasized his country’s solidarity with Ukraine in the face of the devastating war, which has triggered a global humanitarian and economic crisis.

Zambia reiterated its support for a peaceful resolution to the conflict through diplomatic channels.
A key highlight of the discussions was Ukraine’s proposal to establish Zambia as a regional grain distribution hub. Leveraging the country’s strategic location, Ukraine aims to utilize the Lobito and Tazara Corridors to supply neighboring countries with essential food commodities.
President Hichilema welcomed the initiative, recognizing its potential to alleviate food shortages in the region.
