Lagos, Nigeria – South African Airways (SAA) and Mauritius are intensifying efforts to attract Nigerian travelers. The airline recently hosted a workshop in Lagos aimed at boosting its presence in the country and showcasing the Indian Ocean island as a top holiday spot.
SAA Country Manager, Kemi Leke-Bamtefa, underscored the airline’s commitment to its travel agent partners, particularly smaller agencies that have been with the company for over two decades. She emphasized the importance of collaboration with both SAA and Mauritius to drive business growth.
“We recognize the invaluable contributions of our travel agent partners, especially the smaller ones,” Leke-Bamtefa said. “By working together, we can create more opportunities for everyone involved.”
To enhance connectivity, SAA announced plans to increase its Lagos-Johannesburg flights from three to five weekly starting in late October. The airline also highlighted its expanded global network, which now includes Perth, Australia, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Mauritius, represented by Maurijet General Manager Visham Carpen, presented the island nation as a prime African holiday destination. A key selling point is the visa-free entry for Nigerians, coupled with the country’s renowned beaches and resorts. Carpen urged travel agents to partner with local tourism boards to effectively cater to the needs of Nigerian tourists.
