Niger, Nigeria – In response to the ongoing economic hardship in Nigeria, some youths stormed the streets to protest despite plea from the government. The protest was scheduled to begin on August 1 nationwide. However, the protesters took to the streets on Monday, chanting anti-government songs.
The demonstrators carried placards with messages such as “Enough is Enough,” “Stop Anti-Masses Policies,” “We Are Not Slaves In Our Country,” “Hardship Is Unbearable,” and “Fuel Subsidy Must Be Back.” As they marched, the protesters chanted anti-government songs.
The protesters marched along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State. President Bola Tinubu and some state governors had urged the youth to call off the demonstrations scheduled for August 1-10.
