Borno, Nigeria – Armed terrorists suspected to be members of Boko Haram have attacked Jakana Police Station in Konduga local government area of Borno State,killing a police driver and a woman. The attackers also set ablaze two patrol vehicles and a motorcycle belonging to the police and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), even as some arms and ammunition were carted away by the rampaging insurgents in the early Sunday morning attack.
According to local sources, the terrorists stormed the Police Station around 1:00 am, engaging security troops in a fierce battle that lasted for nearly three hours. The insurgents eventually overpowered the security personnel before fleeing around 3:00 am.
Confirming the dastardly act, the Chairman of Konduga local government area council, Abbas Ali Abari, in a telephone conversation with newsmen, said that he does not have details of casualties as of press time. “I received a distress call that Boko Haram terrorists attacked Jakana Police Station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details I will furnish you,” he said.
